Frequently Asked Questions

When and where do you meet?

We meet monthly as a club, usually on the first Monday of the month at 10:00 AM, at:

First Baptist Church of Anacortes
2717 J Avenue, Anacortes, WA

We also have regular social events that normally happen every month but on various dates / times.

What happens at a typical meeting?

Here’s the general format of our meetings:

  • We start at 10:00 AM with a welcome and club update from that month's president (we rotate among 4 presidents). Updates include membership news, treasurer info, upcoming events, and usually a light-hearted or informative bit.

  • We break for snacks and socializing.

  • A guest presentation begins around 11:00 AM and runs about an hour. This will usually be presented by a speaker from a local organization, government or civic group. Recent examples include the Anacortes Fire Marshall, the Director of the Anacortes Museum, Skaginotnians to Preserve Farmland, Anacortes Forest Lands and sometimes a club member ( on topics like using your phone camera, disaster planning, travel tips )

When is the next meeting?

Our next meeting is scheduled for the first Monday of the next month at 10:00 AM at the church.
You’ll be greeted at the door by a friendly member and you are free to attend to see if it interests you.

How do I join the club?

Joining is simple! You are welcome to try out a meeting to get a feeling for the club. The only requirement is $20 in annual dues per person. If you join, you’ll be added to our member roster, which is shared with all members. This usually includes:

  • Name

  • Email address (important, as we do most of our communication by email)

  • Home address (optional)

  • Phone number (optional)

You can choose to omit any personal info you’d prefer not to share.

What kind of social events do you hold?

We aim to host one social event per month, open to all members—new and longtime alike! Not all events happen every year, but here’s a sampling of past favorites:

  • Bingo at the Wheel House (buy your own food/drinks; small prizes)

  • Mardi Gras Party – gumbo provided, BYO drinks

  • March Madness gathering at a local pizza place

  • St. Patrick’s Day – corned beef & cabbage at Seafarers Park ($5 charge)

  • Summer music nights at Seafarers Park – bring snacks to share

  • In-home potluck dinners – host makes the main, guests bring sides/dessert

  • Annual picnic at Washington Park’s big pavilion

  • August outdoor meeting at Causland Park (church if it rains)

  • Holiday Extravaganza in December – buffet dinner, music, games, and fun (usually held in LaConner; capped at 96 guests)

  • Live music events, like an evening with Marcia Kester at Summit Park Grange – BYO snacks and beverages (including adult beverages)

What opportunities are there for more involvement ?

We have a number of volunteer committees and support positions you can help be a part of :
